Under PSSR 2000 pressurised vessels such as espresso machines require to be inspected and deemed to be safe annually. ​ As the business owner you have a duty of care to hold an up to date boiler safety certificate and Written Scheme of Examination for your espresso machine. During the visit your espresso machine steam boiler will be drained and the heating element removed. This allows us to visually check the interior of the boiler using a borescope, when can the easily look closely at welds, structure and any potential concerns. We will also check all the relevant pipe work and boiler supports. A crucial element to this inspection is testing of the pressure release valve. Using a calibrated hand pump we test the release pressure of the valve before mimicking a machine failure, to do this we manually overheat the boiler ensuring that the valve releases under the pre determined steam pressure.
